Beatles U.K. Singles That Could Have Been
Saturday Mar 08, 2025
Saturday Mar 08, 2025
Move over, "Cloud 9". 1987's biggest release, at least for fans of the kind of hard, f rock that Appleton's legendary WFUK made famous, is Tiffany's "Could've Been".#š_ššø
But what was ol Tiff singing about? We interpret her lyrics as a listing of songs the Beatles could've (been) released in their real-time, U.K. discography. For those of you for whom Tiffany rocks just a wee too hard, the Untitled Two dream up some of their choices most amazing fantasy Fab singles.
So come on down to fantasy land - no yoga toe spreaders required, which is arguably Phil Collins best album - as we also wonder:
šļøš¼š¦ (Angry Chicago guy, in line for opening day at Comiskey, which is 6 weeks away. It's dangerously cold.) How come that hollyweird lib Dana Carvey don't do no impressions of John Lennon beating up Bob Wooler? And how come I'm wet when I VCR "Gutfeld" but not Diane?
š¶1ļøā£2ļøā£ Is 12 Bar Original actually 12 bars and/or original?
š£š°š¤ Why haven't any of you so called "fanz" opened up an Etsy shop where you sell T.J. customized/hypmotized fantasy 1988 Purple Capitol label 45's? #ForJukeboxesOnly

The Beatles "Live at the BBC" (1994)
Saturday Mar 01, 2025
Saturday Mar 01, 2025
In what many scholars consider one of the most revelatory album releases of 1994 (perhaps second only to Sade's "Best of Sade"), the Beatles' "Live at the BBC" provides a portal back to the early 60s, when the Beatles weren't yet quite as popular as the big J.C.
This week, T.J and Tony dust off their CD collections to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 30th anniversary of some of the Fab Four's finest live studio recordings, and in the process, answer the timeless questions:
š¬š§šļø Who was the superior BBC presenter: Lee Peters, Pee Litres, or Step By Step's Patrick Duffy?
šš½ How come Ringo doesn't want us throwing bananas at him anymore, and when was he planning to warn us (with peace and love)?
ššµ Whaddyou want when you're hungry for somethin' that you really got to have? #LikeHotDogs

Beatles Fantasy Reunion Setlists
Saturday Feb 22, 2025
Saturday Feb 22, 2025
Have you ever had a Rock & Roll Fantasy? The Kinks did. So did Bad Company. And nobody hated Bad Company more than rock musicās Stephen Sondheim. #FireElaineStritch
Some Rock & Roll fantasies are quite dangerous, like the troubling, cancel-worthy ones Rick Rubin has about feet. ALLEGEDLY. But others are healthy enough to dream out loud, on, by any reasonable metric, one of Americaās most acclaimed podcasts.
Inspired by an inspiring suggestion from longtime listener, Patreon supporter, and singer/songwriter, Montrealās own Max "Como" Comeau (which translates loosely in āMurican to "Max, how"?), Tony and T.J. dare to dream: what would have a Beatles reunion concert been like in the late 1970ās? Would George wear his silly stache from his self titled LP? Would Paul arrive on a laconic boat from London Town? Would John bake bread as Yoko verbally assaults Chuck Berry? And would Ringo be sober enough to zug-zug his way from Monte Carlo to the venue?
These questions will NOT be answered in this fairly insane excursion in to fantasylandĀ - youāll thank us for the two drink minimum, folks - but donāt fret; neither will these:
š«š (Angry Chicago Guy:) How come Frankie Goes To Hollywood instead of Sheridan when heās getting off the outer drive? And how come Wix got a problem with America's hottie, Sister Jean?
š«šš»āāļø Why is it literally impossible to find out how/where Keith Moon died? Nobody has this information?
š«ā¾ļø Sox Fest was hella sad, right? More like, Konerk-NO!

Beatles For Sale (1964) Side Two
Saturday Feb 15, 2025
Saturday Feb 15, 2025
The fab fourās fourth fab album, Beatles for Sale, isnāt just absolutely freaking underrated. It offers perhaps the last of their comparatively-less-ubiquitous knockout tunes. Side 2 illustrates this point perfectly, where just about Every Little Thing is magical*. (*May not include cover songs!)
And yet, the UBPās very own Tony āDave Dexter Junior, Juniorā Mendoza wants to make this album even better. How will he do this you may ask? Thatās why you literally have to listen! (No, really this time weāre not f**king around.) Spoiler alert: just when the ālawyersā said Rush and The Beatles was too legally sick of a collab, The Spirit of Hard Rock Radio on WFUK - Your Home for Appleton Foxes Baseball - proves that in Tonyās world, the timeless wavelengths remain, well, timeless. And also, wavelengths.
You canāt spoil a UBP āBeatles For Saleā party, because a UBP āBeatles For Saleā party donāt spoil! Oy, unless itās too hot at this meshugana picnic! Which one of you shcmucks brought egg salad, itās a thousand degrees out here!? And also:
š«š· Is Queen Latifaās best song about a French record pressing plant āU-N-R-T-Iā?
ššØšļø (Angry Chicago guy:) How come nobody aināt calls Earth Wind and Fire reverse racists* for not hiring Erik Estrada to sing āCelebrate Good Times, Come Onā on their tours? (*Not a thing)
š“š Why does T.J. think the random, current Sheriff of the Norwalk Republican Town Committee played Arnold Horshack on āWelcome Back Kotterā?

Beatles For Sale (1964)
Saturday Feb 08, 2025
Saturday Feb 08, 2025
Itās one of the more unique and perhaps under-appreciated albums in the Beatles otherworldly catalog: āBeatles For Saleā. Recorded in the eye of the Beatlemania storm, with the making ofĀ what would become āHelpā right around the corner, this is one of the few Beatles albums that, to quote TLCās tribute to Zach Braff (NBCās āNo Scrubsā), āBeatles For Saleā, sadly gets no love. Itās occasionally dismissed as a creative and energy step down from the album which preceded it, āA Hard Days Nightā. BY MORONS, AM I RIGHT? Because this is a damn fine album, however exhausted and transitional the boys may have been, and itās long past time it gets an authentic, patented UBP deep dish. Hold the sausage, itās almost Meat Free Monday, you jagbag!
In addition to dishing Dylan, The Beatles, and the age old political battle of mono vs. stereo, the Now On Sale Two also ponder:
š Is Tony a first time grunter, a longtime grunter, or a R.J. Grunter?
š Marvin Gaye ganked the riff and feel of āGot To Give It Upā from longtime, actual soul legend Robin Thicke, yes? Like, obviously?
š„ Is Bernard Purdie, scientifically, the worldās only drummer?

Ringo Starr's "Look Up" (2025) and Our Country Music Favorites
Saturday Feb 01, 2025
Saturday Feb 01, 2025
Sure, in 1982, George may have āGone Troppoā ā¦ but who couldāve guessed that some 43 years later, his old pal Ringo would have āGone Conttroā?
Thatās right! Buckle your buckles, scoot those boots, and pour outācher ten gallon hats, because this week the Twanginā Two dish deep not just on Ringoās new Nashville-infused release, āLook Upā, but they Look Back on their own Americana and country music roots.
Join us as we hit the open highway with our radios tuned to Tom T. Hall, Dave āCurleyā Dudley, and Dick Butkus, and along the ride we ask:
Ā šæ Who got higher at Poplar Creek in the 1980s: Willie Nelson, or T.J.ās mom?
Ā š True or False: Tonyās first concert was Alvin and the Chipmunks at the opening night of Coyote Ugly Saloon?
Ā šÆ Is Ringoās āCan You Hear Me Callā featuring Molly Tuttle the greatest solo Beatle duet since Maccaās āIvory and Ivoryā with Hamish Stuart?

Episode CC.V (Our 200th Episode Part 2!)
Saturday Jan 25, 2025
Saturday Jan 25, 2025
The rager of an anny party continues over at the UBP, as the team celebrates their 200th (200-point-fifth?) episode! With the help of some fab listener questions, Tony, T.J., & Casey dish deep on all things Beatles - and some exciting news that may be revealed for 2025! (This is called a tease, but itās a bad one, because thereās no special news. There is, however, a rarely-heard Tony Mendoza production, crafted exclusively for Beatlefest 2024, seamlessly bringing together the worldās two most important proper nouns.)
While reflecting on the future of UBP, and also preparing for the past, the UB3 (#Cantaloop?) also ponder:
š§ļøšŖ© Was it (metaphorically) raining on Tonyās prom night, and how many of you would get and/or appreciate a āGreaseā reference here?
š«š Does Charles Barkley calling T.J. āshort and uglyā make up for him, shamefully, never winning an NBA title? T.J., I mean. B**ch a** coward can't win when it matters.
šļøšµ (Our Chicago Friend. Heās drunk, sad, and very, very cold) āIf Nobama was such a great president, how come I canāt retire off my Beatles Reel Music 8-track tape no more? And how come Sarah Palin aināt wearing no skirts no more on the reruns of that one SNL with John McCain?"

Episode CC (Our 200th Episode!)
Saturday Jan 18, 2025
Saturday Jan 18, 2025
It was 200 episodes ago todayā¦ The world was thrown into chaos by a pandemic that real scientists, like the bumbling, mediocre, former host of a largely stupid, 2000ās NBC reality show, knew could be cured with basic medical know how; like injecting bleach. #NegativeCreep #FileHimUnderARock
From this weird, wild world of alternative facts and despair came The Untitled Beatles Podcast, and we couldnāt be more proud to share our 200th sojourn into the vast, beautiful world of Beatles music and culture. In this special episode, Tony, T.J., and Producer Casey take the rare step of making things about themselves, and discuss how a deep love of Beatles musicāas well as the much anticipated sequel to āAll The Bestāābrought them together. They answer pointedly personal, potentially problematic questions from some loyal listeners, and also consider:
šļøš„ Is the discovery of cassettes featuring Tonyās long lost, desert rock bandās Beatle covers this generationās āLive At The Star Clubā? But the 2 LP Pickwick version, not that lame 16-track Sony Music CD from 1991?
šŗšøš§¦ Angry Chicago Guy: HOW COME MALCOM MCDOWELL DONāT SPELL āCOMPLETEā LIKE AN AMERICAN IN āTHE COMPLEAT BEATLESā? ANāT MCDOWELL IN CHARGE OF DAT KIND OF STUFF, THE SAME WAY AJ PERZINSKI WAS IN CHARGE OF KICKING THAT JAG CUBS CATCHER MICHAEL BARRETTāS ASS BACK IN 2006? LETāS GO WHITE SOX! DIANE, IāM WET AGAIN HONā¦. NO, BAD WET, SWEETIE.
š¦š° Is āCan You Feel Deloitte Tonightā, T.J.ās āLion Kingā parody about noted consulters (?) Deloitte, arguably the best corporate āLion Kingā parody about Deloitte of 2000? No? Cool. Cool.
Whether youāre an OG listener, or youāve tuned in exclusively for a review of Ringoās new country LP (coming soon!), weāre grateful for all of you, and especially those with the stones to demand that we āget rid of the pianoā. THANK YOU, and hereās to the next 200!

Dark Horse Records
Saturday Jan 11, 2025
Saturday Jan 11, 2025
Cheer Down, Untitled Beatlefreaks! This week, Tony gives T.J. Cliffās notes (shouldnāt have left your locker open, Cliff) on the fascinating book, Dark Horse Records: The Story of George Harrisonās Post-Beatles Record Label, written by Aaron Badgley. Did the quiet Beatle create the first indie label, one that featured appearances from Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, and at least one former Wing? The guys discuss this and more, like:
š¤ Joe Cocker toured the country in the musical āGreaseā, so why is Eric Clapton too cowardly to step into āOklahomaā? TULSA TIME, MY ASS. #DonWilliams
šļø If Matt Gaetz were a grumpy green monster on āSesame Streetā, would his name be Oscar The Couch; because he diddles couches?
š° Would Attitudes second album, āGood Newsā, have sold more copies had there not been a crippling frisbee shortage in 1977?
